Where else are toddlers encouraged to paint the wall, the floor and even their bare feet?
Who's it for?:
Suggested for ages 14 months – 3 years and parent or caregiver
Details:
Want your child to experience “big art” but dislike “big mess” at home? Here is the place they can paint a wall with a roller, or dip their bare feet in paint to see the footprints. Children will explore tools, props and art materials on their own terms, and find new ways to view and use familiar objects in novel ways. The Art Studio philosophy views art creation as a experiential process using all senses (auditory, visual, tactile), without an emphasis on the finished product.
Classes feature a new theme each week and always involve multiple stations with materials awaiting your child’s explorations.
In addition to using traditional art materials, we’ll also use soft dough, ice paint, foam, clay, water, sand, goop, fabric and even bubbles to create art experiences in unexpected and imaginative ways.
Background music and an end-of-class story book and songs help with transitions and tie into the theme of the week.
Our explorations are large scale and messy but clean up easily.
All materials are non-toxic and smocks and washcloths are provided.
Though our art materials are labeled “washable”, please dress yourself and child in “art class” clothing.
